Each country chapter begins with regional maps, then examines city and province maps, exploring similarities and differences among the maps during a period of Western pressure for trade with Asia. The visual language of maps is shown to reflect the artistic traditions and world views of Asian societies. A glossary is included. The book contains large-format color historical maps on every page.
