Drawing on archaeological, anthropological, topological, geographical, and historical evidence, Koenigsberg argues that the first Temple of the people of Israel in the land of Israel was not at the Temple Mount in Jerusalem but at a site he helped excavate in 1981. He presents evidence that the site was on the route by which Israelites first entered the land of Canaan during the Settlement Period, some 50 kilometers north of Jericho, the commonly accepted entrance point.
