Alexander Woollcott, the centerpiece of the group, worked as drama critic for the <I>Times</i> and the <I>World</i>, wrote profiles of his friends for <I>The New Yorker</i>, and lives on today as Sheridan Whiteside in <I>The Man Who Came to Dinner</i>.
