Habitat destruction, poor management of existing habitats and acidification or eutrophication of freshwater has led to a change in the distribution of aquatic plants throughout Britain and Ireland. Managing and protecting these plants can be challenging because relatively little is known about them. This book is the first reference to review all the freshwater plants in Britain and Ireland. There are 72 genus of freshwater plants in Europe and each one is extensively described and accompanied by a distribution map which will make this an invaluable comparison as the distribution of these plants continues to change. Also included are details about the habitat and reproductive biology of each genus. Line drawings are included to help with identification.
