Biopsies of superficial atypical melanocytic lesions constitute a large proportion of dermatopathology cases for the pathologist. This volume reviews each major category of atypical melanocytic lesions, including the pathology of the superficial categories of melanoma followed by discussion of the major simulants of melanoma. The morphologic description and diagnostic issues for each lesion are discussed in a general overview, with several detailed cases presented to show an expert approach to diagnosis in a range of challenging cases. Each case is well illustrated and the book provides about 60 cases and about 600 images overall. This volume will provide the pathologist with a thorough guide to analysis of these challenging lesions and differentiation of benign superficial proliferations from malignant melanocytic tumors (melanomas).
