This text book offers undergraduate students an in-depth look at the many factors that interact to regulate the life cycle and physiology of plants. The sixth edition has been extensively updated, reflected by the addition of the word “Development” to the title. The first two units, “Transport and Translocation of Water and Solutes” and “Biochemistry and Metabolism” contain minor updates to reflect our increased understanding of basic plant physiological processes, highlighting the importance of these processes at every stage in the plant life cycle. The final unit, “Growth and Development,” has been entirely redone to describe the role of photoreceptors and hormones in the context of the life cycle of plants.
