This volume presents five essays from the Review of Central and East European Law Special Issue (2012) and the symposium “Russia and European Human-Rights Law: Progress, Tensions and Perspectives.” It focuses on human rights law developments in Russia and the implementation of decisions of the European Court of Human Rights. Law scholars from Europe consider the human rights concept of the Russian Orthodox Church and its patriarch Kirill, an international relations theory perspective on the human rights situation, the lack of media freedom and how it has been dealt with by European human rights institutions, and religious freedom.
