Author Luc Braeuer presents students, academics, researchers, and general interest readers with the first volume of his photographic and textual examination of the German U-boats at Lorient, France. The author has organized the chapters that make up the main body of his text in three parts devoted to June of 1940, when the war reached Lorient, July through December of 1940 and U-boat production at Lorient, and January through June as the British begin to combat the threat posed by the facility at Lorient.
