Colonius and Kliemann introduce the interplay between linear algebra and dynamical systems in continuous time and in discrete time from a broader perspective and to a more advanced degree than other books on the same subject. They develop generalizations of real parts of eigenvalues and eigenspaces as a starting point for a linear algebra for classes of time-varying linear systems, and provide several examples of low-dimensional systems that play a role in engineering and science.
