Editors Weiss, Schnauder, and Fuchs present students, academics, researchers, and theater professionals with a collection of scholarly articles and academic essays that together investigate the intersection of literary and cultural criticism, theater, translation studies, and comparative literature in the interplay between the drama and theater of the Anglo and German worlds from the eighteenth to the twenty-first century. The contributions that make up the main body of the text cover a wide variety of related subjects, including English plays on the Austrian lists of banned books between 1750 and 1848, the reception of Synge’s and O’Casey’s plays in Vienna from 1914 to 1969, the political reception of German drama in Great Britain during the French Revolution, and others.
