Friedrichs (1901-83) deals with electromagnetic theory from a mathematical perspective, which he says may be very different from the approach that a physicist or electrical engineer might take. He covers electrostatics, currents and Ohm's law, magnetostatics, electromagnetic fields changing in time, transmission lines: methods of the Laplace transformation, electromagnetodynamics of moving bodies, electromagnetic wave propagation, and the scattering problem. The treatment is suitable for advanced undergraduate students of mathematics with a background in advanced calculus and linear algebra as well as in mechanics and electromagnetics at an undergraduate level.
