Lesaux and Harris present students, academics, and education professionals with a knowledge-based approach to literacy instruction for young English learners in a variety of academic settings. The authors have organized the main body of their text in eight chapters devoted to what we know about reading development among English learners, understanding oral language for literacy and the special case of academic language, the knowledge building classroom, and a wide variety of other related subjects.
