This work for professionals offers a decision-making framework for dealing with ethical dilemmas encountered in the practice of psychotherapy, focusing on issues of professional competence, boundary issues, and informed consent. The framework draws on the ideas of positive ethics, which emphasizes the best results for both therapists and clients. There is special emphasis on dealing with high-risk patients and situations where there is a high risk of crossing ethical boundaries, as well as guidelines for picking the best course of action when two ethical principles conflict in real life situations.
