Holmes is a former consultant to Scotland Yard, and an addict. He travels to New York City to check into a rehabilitation center and stays on in Brooklyn with Dr. Joan Watson, who becomes his sober companion. Feeling that the more interesting criminal cases are in America, he stays in New York, and contacts an old associat from the NYPD to resume his previous job as a consultant detective.
